Museum Moment

My museum moment occurred when I was in the theater. There was a constant show going on, with the curtains opening and closing sporadically. After the curtains had been opened for a few minutes two girls dressed in butterfly costumes emerged from behind the side of the stage and danced around. Shortly after that two other girls with microphones moved to the front of the stage to start singing. Though I'm fairly sure he didn't come with them, a boy moved up with a small drum and started to play along with the girls as they sang. When one of the girls noticed that he was there, she simply looked down at him, and continued to sing. There was also a control panel in the audience controlled by the kids that turned on lights and different sounds. The whole experience was a culmination of Montessori, Piaget and Vygotsky. There were aspects of each of these theorists woven into this single exhibit being shown by the children. From the child sized objects, to social play, to open ended real life situations. The children were allowed to explore their wants in the theater while living the ideas of these three theorists.
